Scuttino
Scuttino is an artist from “Oak Cliff” Texas, and 1/3 of the collective “Free blck” that consist of Scuttino himself, KAAMO, & Ur Highness.
Growing up in Dallas, Texas with his brothers Scuttino found a strong love for hip-hop, while being surrounded by aspects that come along with the culture young Scuttino found himself standing out amongst his peers solely off of being his authentic self.
Along with his counterparts from “Free blck” Scuttino and his brothers formed a collective that is well respected in Oak Cliff and have built a solid discography. Building notoriety within their own community they gained exposure from big platform “SayCheeseTV”. During their very first studio session together they created the well-known single titled “No ID”.
No ID came shortly after Scuttino released “Kid Tape” in 2020, it has a couple of singles that stands out amongst the 13-track album called “Wake Up” which starts the album off motivating the listener to reach for more than mediocrity, and “Look at God” ft. Joni.
Over the timespan of his career Scuttino has released a handful of projects and singles that stand out to me a couple that speaks to me are “u feel me?”, “Oak Cliff”, and his most recent released single titled “Top Ten”.
Scuttino pays homage to a legend in the music industry Miss “Erykah Badu” on “didntchaknow (ok uh huh)” with sampling one of her most special and iconic records to date and even gave her credits in the creative process, something more should do when sampling.
I haven’t gotten the chance to catch Scuttino live in performance yet, but hopefully soon that time will come in the meantime I’ll be keeping an eye for new music.
